    For the 2014 Conference of the Nebraska Music Teachers Association, Mark Salman will present a solo recital of works by Beethoven, Chopin, and Liszt, a workshop on the intellectual and emotional considerations in the interpretation of Beethoven piano sonatas, as well as a piano solo master class.

    In true Simple Measures style, we will walk you through the epic Quartet for the End of Time by Olivier Messiaen with examples and explanations that open up the music and enable even the casual listener to get to the heart of it and understand this amazing work. Clarinetist Sean Osborn, Seattle Symphony violinist Cordula Merks, piano soloist Mark Salman, and cellist and Simple Measures Founder Rajan Krishnaswami will take you on the tour and present other "timely" works for their instruments.

    Mark Salman will be performing a solo piano recital at the new Steinway Piano Gallery in downtown Seattle. The program will include:

    • Beethoven: Sonata No. 26 in E-flat Major, Op. 81a
    • Brahms: Intermezzi Op. 76#7, Op. 119 #2 and Op. 119 #3
    • Liszt: Various works, including the Legend No. 2, "St. Francis Walking on the Waves"

    Admission is free.
